Sgt.Angelo P. “Doc” Naples a long time Worcester Police Officer died peacefully Tuesday April 10, 2018 surrounded by his loving family in the UMASS Memorial Hospital. Angelo is survived by his loving wife of 53 years who was his primary caregiver Nina (Capurso) Naples, a son Mark Naples and his wife Angela of Rutland, a daughter Linda A. Sharon of Whitinsville, his daughter in law Kim Naples of Leicester, his sister Phyllis Tomaiolo of Worcester 7 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, and 4 great granddaughters, nephews and nieces. His son Michael Naples predeceased him as well as 2 great grandsons Eric and Michael Murray. Angelo was born in Worcester son of the late Louis and Angelina (Doldo) Naples and lived in Worcester many years before moving to Jefferson. Angelo served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War serving in Germany. Upon returning home he went to work for the Harvey Construction Company, and also worked as a Worcester Police Officer for 32 years serving as a Sergeant in the Traffic and Operations Division before he retired in 1997. After he retired he worked part time at the Worcester Country Club. Angelo was a longtime member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann. He was a founding member of the Worcester Patrolman’s Association, and a member of the Massachusetts Police Association, and the Retired City and State Workers Association. He was a proud 50+ year member of the Laborers Union #243 and the International Brotherhood of Police Officers. Angelo loved to work, he had an impeccable attendance record at the Police Department. Angelo lived for his family. They were the most important thing to him. He loved being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father, father in law, grandfather, and great grandfather and brother who will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Angelo’s funeral will be held on Saturday April 14, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Loreto 33 Massasoit Rd. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Angelo’s life at his calling hours on Friday from 4PM to 7PM in the funeral home. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
