Carolina “Carrie" (Laurin) Stranieri, 93, formerly of Worcester and Auburn, passed away peacefully at Overlook Masonic Health Center in Charlton, with loved ones gathered at her bedside, Saturday, April 7th2018. Born in Boylston and raised in Worcester from the age of two, Carolina was a daughter of Italian immigrants, Secondo and Delcisa (Iori) Laurin. She graduated from the former High School of Commerce Class of 1944. She worked to help support her family, as an inspector for the former Astra Pharmaceutical Company in Westboro, before retiring in 1987. Carolina lived in Worcester, most of her life before moving to Auburn. She is survived by her three children, Carolyn Sheldon and her husband Orville of Paxton, Jean Benoit and her husband Francis “Sam” of Rochdale, Kenneth A. Stranieri and his wife Lona of Titusville, NJ; six grandchildren she adored, Keith and Kyle Sheldon, Shane Benoit and Breyn Brothers, Caroline and Nathan Stranieri; along with six great grandchildren, Symantha, Evan, Mya, Kyler, William and Ilene; Nieces, nephews and extended family members. An infant son and her brother John Laurin, pre deceased her. She was a member and formerly involved participant in Greendale People’s Church, its Kitchen Angels and retirement group. She later attended services at 1stCongregational Church in Auburn. Carolina enjoyed camping, crossword puzzles, playing cribbage and board games, trips to Maine, daily bus rides for a coffee and to visit people was a daily activity in her later years, ice skating in her earlier days and especially spending time with her family. Family was Carolina’s life’s inspiration; having them around her for family dinners, the holidays and surprising her grandchildren and great children by actively participating in soccer games with them into her eighty’s. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, April 14th at 10:00 am in the MERCADANTE Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St in Worcester. Burial in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton will follow. A period of calling hours will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am prior to the funeral.
