Maureen B. Racicot

Maureen B. (Hastings) Racicot, 57, of Auburn, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 surrounded by family at the Odd Fellows Home in Worcester, after living with Younger Onset Alzheimer’s Disease for over seven years.   Maureen is survived by her loving husband of nearly thirty-three years, Kenneth A. Racicot; their children, Matthew J. Racicot and his girlfriend Emily M. Geer, both of Auburn, and Allison M. Racicot of Worcester; her mother, Jeannette A. (Collins) Hastings of Worcester; a sister, Denise A. Jobin and her husband James of Oxford; two brothers, Kevin B. Hastings and his wife Kathleen of Colchester, CT, and Walter P. Hastings of Leicester; a sister-in-law, Kathy Hastings of Leicester; many nieces and nephews. Maureen was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Walter F. Hastings. She grew up in Worcester, and graduated from North High School, later earning her Bachelor and Master’s Degrees from Worcester State. Maureen and her family moved to Auburn sixteen years ago.   Maureen loved to work with children and felt honored to work with young people in the Northbridge Public School System, where she was a Speech Language Pathologist for many years. She was very proud of her family and was a strong proponent of their activities both in school and on the playing field; she would happily volunteer to help with fundraising, chaperoning, or baking cookies.   Maureen will be remembered as a warm-hearted person who was always smiling and happy.   Maureen’s family would like to thank all of the wonderful “angels” at the Odd Fellows Home. Their care and compassion for Maureen and her family was beyond expectations and they will be remembered fondly as Maureen’s “second family.”   Calling Hours for Maureen will be on Wednesday, April 4, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  Her Funeral will be on Thursday afternoon, departing the funeral home at 12 Noon in procession to a 12:30 p.m. Funeral Mass at Christ The King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street, Worcester.    In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her memory to The Alzheimer’s Association by visiting www.alz.org.
