George Groccia, 86 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at CareOne at Millbury. George was born in Worcester, one of ten children to the late Salvatore and Rose (Perri) Groccia. He served his country proudly during the Korean War for the United States Army where he was the recipient of the Korean Service Metal with two Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. George worked for many years as a landscaper for Flatley Company and pursued his love of planting flowers and gardens for many years after. George spent his final moments surrounded by the warmth of family, a reflection of how he loved to spend time in life. George’s wife of 38 years, Arlene F. (Kane) Groccia passed away in 1994. He is survived by his son, George W. Groccia of Worcester; his daughter, Christine Magnuson of Dana Point, CA; his grandson, Riley Magnuson; his brother, Jerry Groccia; two sisters, Beatrice Arturo and Delores Moroski all of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by four brothers, Anthony, Ralph, Joseph and Salvatore Groccia, Jr.; two sisters, Louise Ginisi and Betty Geldart. Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 9:30-11:00 am with his service to begin at 11:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.
