Elaine H. (George) Dionis, 88, long-time resident of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 12, 2018 at UMass Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of 54 years, William L. Dionis predeceased her in 2010. She is survived by her two sons, Mark Dionis and his wife Sandra of Shrewsbury and Christopher Dionis and his wife Kimberly Houston-Dionis of Auburn; her grandchildren, Sydney and Zachary Dionis both of Shrewsbury; a brother, Gust George of Worcester; three sisters, Cleo George, Sophie George and Jean George all of Worcester and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She is predeceased by five sisters, Catherine Costa, Alexandria Bardho, Naomi Veshi, Mary George and Anna Pillary. Born in Bradford, Pennsylvania on May 20, 1929, she was the daughter of Peter and Angeline (John) George and was a graduate of Bradford Senior High School. Elaine was a lifelong member of Saint Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church and was always an active participant in the bi-annual Church festival. Elaine also was a past member of the DAV Auxiliary. She was an avid sports fan, especially for New England teams. She greatly enjoyed spending time at Hampton Beach and always looked forward to the trips of Atlantic City. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be missed dearly. The family wishes to thank the amazing doctors, nurses and staff of UMASS Medical Center and to Holy Trinity Nursing And Rehabilitation Center. Their professionalism and caring attitude was unsurpassed in our experience and we are forever grateful. The funeral will be held on Monday, March 19th at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street. Calling hours will be in the church where her family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Saint Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church.
