Rose M. (Lamarche) Sorel, 85 of Worcester, passed away Tuesday, March 13th 2018 at home with her life’s love Roland by her side, joining in heaven her sister and best friend, Mary L. Polli, who passed away one week ago on Tuesday, March 6th. Rose is survived by her life partner of over 55 years, Mr. Roland L. Lajoie of Worcester; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Besides her sister, Mary, she was predeceased by a brother, Ernest Lamarche, and by a sister, Alice D. Spring. Born and raised in Worcester, Rose was a daughter of the late Emery and Alice (Fauchea) Lamarche, and lived here all her life. Rose began her professional career with Aetna Life and Casuality and remained there for over 20 years, before transitioning to a unit secretarial position for the Pediatrics Department at the former Hahnemann Hospital for 10 years before retiring. Rose volunteered for many years alongside her sister for the Worcester Council on Aging. She was a member of St John's Church. Rose loved animals especially her cats and dog, all of whom predeceased her. In addition, Rose had a great talent and passion for cake decorating and is known to have made hundreds of wedding cakes throuout her lifetime. Not blessed with children, Rose loved and treated as her own those numerous nieces and nephews who completed the entirey of her life along with Roland and Mary. The family would like to especially thank her friend and caretaker Ms. Maame Daniels, along with Ms. Betty Sarfo; her Nurse Case Manager and Navigator from Navicare; and the wonderful people from VNA Care Hospice of Worcester for the care, comfort and compassion they gave to Rose during her life. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Friday, March 16th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Saturday, March 17th from the funeral home with a procession departing at 9:30 am to Saint John’s Church, 44 Temple Street, Worcester, where her celebration of life Mass will be held at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester, MA.
