Rita H. (Vuona) Sacco, 93, of Worcester, Massachusetts and Del Ray Beach, Florida passed away peacefully Saturday, March 10th, 2018 with the ones she loved gathered at her side. Born and raised in Worcester, Rita was one of ten children of Italian immigrants Pietro and Angelina (Ferraro) Vuona. She graduated from Commerce High School, and furthered her education at Worcester School of Business Science and Elizabeth A. Ollis School of Beauty. Rita began her working career at Table Talk Pies, and later accepted a position as a cosmetologist with David’s Hair Salon. In 1947, shortly after the end of World War II, she married the man who became her partner, love and devoted husband for the next 70 years; Victor “Perry” Sacco. Together they purchased a Worcester restaurant which they guided and nurtured into a Worcester dining institution. “Dino’s”, one of Worcester “Best” Italian restaurants owing to its use of many original family recipes. Rita and Perry owned and operated Dino’s for the next 20 years before retiring in 1982. They spent their retirement summering in Worcester with family and wintering in Del Ray Beach, always entertaining friends and relatives who came to visit. Rita loved to cook, bake and travel around the world with Perry. They were inseparable and truly partners in life and loved each other and family always. Rita is survived by her husband, Perry; a sister, Helen Taddeo; her sister-in-law, Mary Pat Sacco; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, treated as her own and was always willing to provide guidance when asked. Rita also leaves other extended family members and friends both in Massachusetts and in Florida. Rita joined in heaven her parents; her in-laws, Joseph and Pasqua Sacco; two sisters, Mary Argento and Rose Salvidio; six brothers, Henry, Frank, James “Ted”, Louis, John “Jack” and Joseph Vuona; and two brothers-in-law, George and Alfred “Freddy” Sacco. Rita was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Loreto church, the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company Ladies Inner Circle, the Beato Angelo Association, Worcester Opera Club, Italian Cultural Society in Florida, and the Worcester Lodge 168, Sons of Italy in America. Rita’s funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 14th at 11:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, followed by a procession to St John’s Mausoleum where she will be entombed in its Chapel. A period of calling hours will be held Wednesday, March 14th from 9:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service.
