Mary I. Belliveau

September 1, 1935 — March 3, 2018

Mary I. (Fraioli) Belliveau, 82, of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at UMass Hospital.   Mary is survived by two sons, John A. Belliveau and his wife Noella of Worcester, Mark A. Belliveau and his significant other, Michelle Gebo of Brimfield; two daughters, Linda Curran and her husband Wayne, and Mary Ann Saunders and her husband Mark, all of Worcester; five grandchildren, Victoria A. Saunders, Nicole M. Belliveau, Joseph J. Curran, Kathryn L. Saunders, and Kyle C. Belliveau; four great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; along with a multitude of dear friends.  She was predeceased by her brothers, Anthony, Albert, and Guerino. Mary was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Giovanni and Mary Fraioli, and has lived here all her life.   Mary retired from the Worcester Public School System, where she had worked for thirty-four years as a teacher’s assistant.  Mary could also be found working as a cashier at D’Errico’s Market, where she was able to share her smile and keep tabs of her beloved neighborhood.  She had been a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, but after moving closer to Lake Quinsigamond, she became a member of the former Saint Margaret Mary Parish, and was currently a member at Saint Anne’s Church in Shrewsbury.    Mary was proud to be a part of the community and served on the board of directors for the Worcester Eastside Development Corp, for many years, and had been active in PTA’s and “Mother’s Clubs” at schools when her children were growing up.  She was a huge New England sports fan and was proud of her Red Sox.   Mary loved people and could often be found as the center of a conversation or gathering.  Her family was important to her, and she had a love for her friends that ran deep within her being.   Mary’s family would like to extend a warm “thank you” to all the great staff members on the third floor Lakeside ICU and 6 West ICU at UMass; their compassion and care made Mary and her family feel as though she was the only person being cared for.  To Dr. Meyer, who cared for Mary and made a special connection, please know that your care and kindness will be remembered and cherished through the years to come.   Calling Hours for Mary will be on Monday, March 5, from 4 pm until 7 pm in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  Her Funeral will be on Tuesday, departing the funeral home at 10:40 am, in procession to an 11 am Funeral Mass at Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike (Route 9 East), in Shrewsbury.  Interment will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association or to the National Kidney Foundation.
