David Sutman has died at home in Worcester, Massachusetts, at the age of 73.David grew up in Sheffield Village, Ohio, less than a block from his maternal grandparents' home on Lake Erie. His happiest childhood memories included his grandma baking raisin filled cookies and walking with his grandpa along Lake Erie looking for arrowheads. He went to Brookside High School in Sheffield, Ohio. David attended Kent State University, earning a BS in Industrial Design. After college, David was drafted into the Vietnam conflict, serving in Company B, 7th Cavalry. He had a long career as an exhibit designer in Miami, Chicago, and Atlanta. After retiring from design, he worked several years doing house renovation and resale. He had two sons and two grandsons, whom he adored. David and his wife traveled every chance they got. David loved art, architecture, modern fine furniture, and cuisines from around the globe. In addition to his large, well-thumbed library of art and architecture books, he read widely about history and politics. Although a neurologic illness (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) markedly limited his abilities in his final years, he continued to read on his computer and to listen to audiobooks until the end. David is sadly missed by his wife Patricia (Hoover), sons Andrew and Eric (Renee Arsenault), and grandsons Oscar and Henry Sutman, all of Worcester, Massachusetts. He is also survived by his beloved brother Phillip Sutman of Sheffield, Ohio, and by loving sisters-in-law Patricia (Roth) Sutman and Sharon (Hoover) Littell, as well as nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his parents Henry Inghram Sutman and Frances (Burge) Sutman. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Worcester Public Library.
