David L. Raised in Worcester, David graduated from Burncoat High School.  David began his working career with Geneva Paving Company for 25 years. He then accepted a position as a route driver with Peterson Oil Company of Worcester where he has been for the past 15 years.   He is survived by his wife Catherine M. (Pavone) Salo; his three sons, Chris of New Zealand, Scott and his wife Courtney of Aspen, Colorado, and David of Athol;  four grandchildren he cherished, Tate, Kayla, Mazey and Pearson. David also leaves his siblings and in-laws. Brothers, Paul Lenkarski and his wife Susan of West Boylston, Joseph Salo of Leicester; sisters, Helen McCormick of Worcester and Jean Cook and her husband John of Northborough; Michael Pavone and his wife Sharon of West Boylston, Raymond Pavone and his girlfriend Jhani Brown of Hubbardston, Audra Pavone of Sutton, his lifelong best friend, Steve Recupero of Florida; many nieces and nephews whom he adored and so proud of, and  all of his extended family members and friends.  Besides his parents, David was predeceased by two brother in-laws, John McCormick and Paul Pavone.   David was a simple individual who loved his family, his friends and his home. He could always be found puttering around his house, especially in his yard stacking wood while preparing for the winter months. His garden and his flowers were a treat for all the neighbors and those passing by his home. David especially enjoyed traveling throughout New England, and sought out vintage car shows and old country barns.  He loved good food, watching Golf and following the New England Patriots. Some of David’s favorite times were those hosting family and friends at his home.     Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Thursday, February 22nd from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street. His funeral will be held Friday, February 23rd from the funeral home with a procession to St Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Road, Shrewsbury where his celebration of life Mass will be held at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
