Pedro T. Figueroa, 80 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. Pedro was born in the barrio of St. Just in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, a son of the late Candelario Figueroa and Leocardia Torres. He came to Worcester in the 1970s where he has lived for the past 45 years. Pedro worked in various jobs in the construction and welding field for 37 years, owned his own company in PR and then served as a journeyman worker upon taking up residence in Worcester. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church and in the last 20 years of his life, spent a great deal of time focusing on his spiritual growth and on that of those around him. He absolutely adored being outside and taking in all that nature had to offer. Pedro loved to fish and to tend to his garden; he thoroughly enjoyed giving away his vegetables to help people in the local community. At home he enjoyed watching novelas, boxing matches, or cartoons with his grandchildren. Above all things, Pedro loved his family first and unwaveringly adored all animals, especially his dogs, Rico, Lyla, Loki, Lexi and Lani. Pedro is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Fatima Mustafa; three sons, Pedro A. Figueroa of Fitchburg, Pancho Figueroa of Puerto Rico, and Kenneth Brooks of Worcester; three daughters, Luz Figueroa of Worcester, Janet Figueroa of Baltimore and Brenda Lee Fleites of Connecticut; a brother, Pablo Figueroa of Puerto Rico; four sisters, Teresa Figueroa of Puerto Rico, Luz Maria Figueroa of Puerto Rico, Alejandrina Figueroa of Boston and Maria Figueroa of Boston; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by three brothers and a sister. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Monday, February 19th from 5-8 pm in the funeral home. Flowers are welcome.
