Butros A. Lahdo, 91 of Worcester formerly of Hassake, Syria passed away with his family gathered at his side, Wednesday morning, February 7th 2018. Born in Hassake, Syria, Butros was one of two sons of Asmer Lahdo and Heillia Abdelki. Upon working age he accepted a position with the Syrian Government, department of Agriculture as Government representative and inspector many years before retiring. In 1990 after retirement, Butros immigrated with his wife to the United States to be close to family. Butros has lived his life in Syria, Turkey, Canada and the United States. Butros is survived by his devoted wife of more than 64 years, Marin (Abdlki) Lahdo; his family, Randa Kalat-Malho, her husband Joseph and their children, Sheffie and Jamie all of Edmonton, Canada, Raid Lahdo, his wife Mouna and their children, Peter and Rebal in Hassake, Syria, Rina Raheb, her husband Naim and their children, Kristen, Elliana, & Paul with whom he lived; a step grandson George; two great grandchildren, Alanna and Joseph; many nieces, nephews in Europe, and extended family members including the Lahdo, Kalal-Malho, Raheb, Miro, Dumit, Khoury, Daher, Asfoura, Gyro and Raban families. His only brother, Basher Lahdo pre deceased him. Butros was a member of St Matthews Syrian Orthodox Church of West Roxbury. He attended St Mary’s Syriac Orthodox Church. While in Turkey, Butros served the Zafaren Monastery. He loved to walk, dance play cards and gardening. His family was the most important part of his life and was extremely proud to have them all around him especially his grandchildren who lovingly called his “Jidu”. A very spiritual man who loved his faith, his church and family and could light up a room when he entered. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Friday, February 9th from5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral service will be celebrated, Saturday, February 10th at 10:30 am in St Mary Syriac Orthodox Church, 1 Industrial Rd, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.
