Deborah Ann (Wemett) Genest - Awad, 64, of Worcester, passed away Sunday, February 4th 2018, with family gathered at her bedside. Deborah’s husband of 14 years, a man she was with for over 24 years (Robert Awad) passed away in 2014. She is survived by her son, Daniel M. Genest and his life partner, Christine McCarthy of Boston; a stepdaughter, Pamela Donnelly and her husband Joseph of San Marcos, California; two stepssons, David Awad and his wife Kayo of Superior, Colorado and Mark Awad of Providence, RI; a sister, Gail Ward of Worcester; three brothers, Gary Wemett of Falmouth, Douglas and David Wemett of Shrewsbury; four stepgrandchildren, Grant, Julia, Kenzo and Taizo; her beloved friend and pet cat Bella; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides her husband Bob, two brothers, Glenn and Bryan also predeceased her. Deborah was born in Newton, a daughter of Henry and Barbara L. (Rines) Wemett. She graduated from David Prouty High School in Spencer and earned her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Clark University. Deborah operated a real estate management company with her husband Robert. They prided themselves on providing people with quality homes for almost 30 years. Deborah enjoyed crocheting, being in her garden, listening to music, summers in Maine, spending time with Daniel and Bella, and working alongside Robert in their business. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Saturday, February 10th from 12 noon to 2:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, Worcester, MA, followed by a service at 2:00 pm. Burial with Robert will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the Alzheimer's Association Massachusetts/New Hampshire, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
