Bernard K. Holloway of Vero Beach, FL formerly of Worcester passed away on his 79th birthday on Sunday, January 28, 2018. Bernard was born in Worcester, one of seven children to the late Joseph and Helen (Kamyck) Holloway and had lived there until moving to Vero Beach, Florida 3 years ago. He attended Worcester Vocational Trade School and graduated from Commerce High School. He also served his country proudly during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force. Bernard later received his bachelor’s degree and a double master’s degree in education and guidance from Worcester State College. Bernard was a special education teacher for the Town of Auburn for many years before his retirement in 1994. Bernard was a member and a past commander of the American Legion: Post 204 in West Boylston. He was also a member of the Polish Naturalization Club Inc. At one point, Bernard owned his own caterer business. Bernard is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Lorraine Y. (Girouard) Holloway; his two daughters, Lynn Loiseau and her husband Michael of Grafton and Marie Mahan and her husband Michael of Worcester; six grandchildren, Breana Mahan, Gerard Loiseau, Erica Mahan, Trevor Loiseau and Jillian Mahan all of Worcester and Alex Loiseau of Grafton; a great grandchild, Maddox Stankus; a brother, Ronald Holloway and his wife Gail of Auburn; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by four brothers, Robert, Kenneth, Joseph and Donald Holloway and a sister, Jean Ostromecky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 11:00 am in St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
