Domenic R. Ferrante, 91 of Boylston, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 22, 2018 in the comforts of his own home with his beloved daughters by his side. Domenic was born and raised in Worcester, a son of the late Leonardo and Anna (Ferraro) Ferrante. He was a graduate of Commerce High School, Class of 1944 before joining the United States Navy. Domenic served his country proudly in World War II on the USS Amsterdam, and was in Japan when the peace treaty was signed. Upon his return from active duty, Domenic went to Worcester Junior College where he received his associate’s degree. Domenic worked as a materials engineer for 41 years for the former Massachusetts Department of Public Works before he retired in 1992. Domenic was a longtime member of the Brown Square Civic Club, where he enjoyed playing cards and made many cherished friendships as well as St. Mary of the Hills Church in Boylston. He also enjoyed the Hanover Theater and spending time on Webster Lake. Amongst all those things, his greatest pride and joy was his family. He loved watching his children and grandchildren grow and received extreme joy from the times he spent with them. Domenic loved to laugh and his great sense of humor will forever live on through his family. Domenic’s beloved wife of 49 years, Mildred T. (Flynn) Ferrante passed away on March 1, 2001. He is survived by his three daughters, Debra A. Frank of Rochdale, Sandra M. Guerard-Hill and her husband Timothy of Webster and Lisa F. Roberts and her husband Stephen of Sutton; a sister, Angela Bolio of Oxford; five grandchildren, Kristen (Frank) Bessette and her husband Paul, Michael Frank and his partner Antonia Tullercash, Shaun Guerard and his wife Heidi, Justin and Courtney Roberts; seven great grandchildren, Katelyn, Makayla and Beau Bessette, Teagan MacDonald, Giuliana, Grace and Grant Guerard; his longtime companion, Mary Covello of Worcester; many loved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two sisters and their spouses, Rose Carlomagno and her husband Paul and Jane Sabolinski and her husband Donald; a brother-in-law, Francis Bolio. Domenic’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. David Shepro and his extraordinary staff for the outstanding care and compassion given to Domenic and them during his period of illness, all the staff at the Jewish Healthcare Center for providing excellent rehabilitation and hospice care and the loving attention given by all of the providers from the Family Tree Home Care. A special thank you to their father’s neighbor and friend, Jeffrey Olson and his father John for their never ending thoughtfulness, generosity and all the helping hands they gave him throughout the years. Services for Domenic will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 am in St. Mary of the Hills Church, 630 Cross St., Boylston. Burial next to his wife will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family on Friday, January 26th from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.
