Joseph D. Arcuri, 28, of Worcester passed away from injuries suffered in a car accident in Mississippi. Joey was born in Springfield, on December 27, 1989. Raised in Worcester, as part of a large and extended family he graduated from North High and Jobs Corps with a focus on becoming a chef. Joe then accepted a position with the University of Massachusetts as a cook. Joe is survived by his father, Massimo Arcuri of Worcester, his mother, Maria (Default) Meyer in North Dakota; his three brothers, Daniel J. Arcuri, John M. Arcuri and his wife Carolyn and Nicholas M. Arcuri all of Worcester; a sister, Helena T. Arcuri in North Dakota; his two uncles, Maurizio and Sergio Arcuri, and two Aunts, Concetta Arcuri Romeo and her husband, Elio, Cinzia Arcuri and her fiancée Ilidio Dutra; Many cousins, friends and other extended family members. His cousin and best friend, Riccardo Mustica was stricken ill and passed away two days later on Saturday, January 20th. Joey was a quiet, fun loving soul, who cherished his family, especially his cousins who made it a point to see and visit with daily. Joey also was a Star Wars enthusiast and collector, has enjoyed all the Star Wars franchise movies many times. Joseph also enjoyed following his favorite soccer team Milan. Friends are invited to a dual set of calling hours with his cousin Riccardo, Thursday, January 25th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. A dual funeral will be held Friday, January 26th from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Lourdes church, 1290 Grafton St where Msgr Stephen Pedone will celebrate their Liturgy of Christian burial mass at 10:00 am.
