Louise C. (O’Leary) McGinty, 79, of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018, in the comfort of her home. Louise is survived by her loving children, a daughter, Maureen A. McGinty; four sons, Brian E. and his wife Cheryl A. McGinty, Sean M. and his wife Monica P. McGinty, Patrick J. McGinty, and Daniel S. and his wife Alison McGinty; a sister, Ruth T. O’Leary; eight grandchildren, Sharon, Jeremy, Brandi, Patrick, Aquinnah, Brienne, Matheus, and Moises; three great grandchildren, Payton, Damien, and Tristan; many nieces and nephews. Louise was predeceased by a brother and three sisters, James and Mary O’Leary, Barbara Halpin, and Phyllis Fortsch. Born in Holyoke, daughter of the late, James and Mary (Leary) O’Leary, she graduated from Holyoke High School and earned a Teaching Degree from The Elms College in Chicopee. Following her graduation she spent several years teaching. She moved her family to Worcester in 1971 and dedicated her life to raising her family with love and devotion. Once she knew that her children were on their own, she returned to teaching, this time in the Worcester Public Schools system, as a tutor and substitute teacher. She enjoyed playing cards at the family’s regular Friday card games, she was a voracious reader and in her youth she performed with her sisters as one of the “Singing Angels”, where they would entertain soldiers in the greater Holyoke area. Calling Hours for Louise will be on Tuesday, January 23, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her Funeral will be on Wednesday, January 24, departing in procession at 9:40 a.m. for a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of The Rosary Church, 25 Fales Street, Worcester. Interment will be private.
