Jerrilyn “Jerry” S. (Carlo) Hesselton, 76, of Worcester, formerly of Shrewsbury, passed away in her home on Thursday, January 18, 2018. Jerry is survived by her children, a son, Robert Hesselton of Worcester; three daughters, Cheryl I. Hamblin of Worcester, Lori A. Thornton of Oxford, and Tina M. Fiorenza and her husband Cosimo of Woodstock, CT; a brother, Anthony “Chuck” Carlo and his wife Carol of Worcester; two sisters, Elizabeth Verdolino and her husband Andrew of Worcester, and Joanne Smith and her husband Grant of Rhode Island; nine grandchildren, Alicia Comeau and her husband Anthony and Jonathan McDonald, who she raised as her own; her life partner of fifty-two years, Robert Richards; ten great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Donna McDonald in 1993 and was also predeceased by her brother, William “Duke” Carlo. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, Anthony and Vera (Sutherland) Carlo, she graduated from Classical High School and attended Quinsigamond Community College. Jerry was a driver for Meals on Wheels in Worcester for over twenty years. She was also a well-known bartender at several area bars including Sam’s Pub and the Blue Jay. Jerry enjoyed playing BINGO and “The Wonder of It All”, she had a taste for life and lived each moment with a positive attitude and smile on her face. She enjoyed being with people and loved her family. She will always be remembered as a caring person, willing to help anyone in their time of need. Calling Hours for Jerry will be on Tuesday, January 23, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment at Rural Cemetery, will be on Friday, January 26, at 1 p.m.
