Leo DiPilato, of Auburn formerly of Worcester passed away peacefully Thursday, January 11, 2018. Leo was born in Worcester, on December 9th 1917, one of five children of Carlo and Maria (Musci) DiPilato. Educated in Worcester, he enlisted in the U.S. Army a member of “the Greatest Generation”, serving his country proudly in the South Pacific taking part in the battle of Guadalcanal Campaign, where he received the Purple Heart for injuries suffered in that battle. Leo worked over 20 years for Quinsigamond Community College before retiring. Leo’s wife and “Love of his Life” Mary (Paravano) DiPilato passed away in 1998. He is survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members who loved and cared for him dearly. Besides his wife, Leo was predeceased by four brothers, Frank, Nicholas, Domenic and Anthony DiPilato, and two sisters, Rose Collaro & Mildred DiPilato. Leo was a member of the former Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. His entire life was spent with his love Mary; they traveled to Florida each year, as well as other venues in the U.S. and Italy. His brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces were very important to Leo and he enjoyed the many times he could be with them. At Leo’s request graveside services and burial with Military honors next to his wife Mary in St. John’s Cemetery will be private.
