Maj. Maureen Mullins, USA (ret), 73, of Jaffrey NH formerly of Worcester and beyond passed away peacefully Thursday, January 11, 2018 in the Monadnock Community Hospital with family at her side, following a period of declining health. Maureen was born and raised in Worcester, the daughter of Alfred J. and Hulda (Uppvall) Mullins. She graduated from North High School, and the Hahnemann Hospital School of nursing. Maureen then worked for a time at Hahnemann Hospital before enlisting in the U.S. Army Medical Corps as a second Lieutenant Registered Nurse. Her enlistment as an Army Nurse over the next 20 years, took Maureen too many Military Hospitals and Medical Centers around the U.S.A. and World caring for soldiers injured in Desert Storm and Persian Gulf Wars before retiring as a Medical Corps Major. Maureen then in private life, worked as a surgical manager for the Community Hospital in Peterborough, NH. Maureen is survived by her brother, John P. Mullins of Worcester; nephews, Sean Mullins who was like a son to her, Adam and James Mullins, Jr; her niece Holly Mullins; a sister in law, Carol Mullins; many extended family members and countless friends and acquaintances she met and made around the World. Besides her parents, Maureen was pre deceased by her oldest brother, James F. Mullins, Sr. Maureen attended St Bernard’s Church before entering the service. She traveled extensively, loved being with and helping people and found great joy being independent. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Tuesday, January 16, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, January 17th from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Providence Parish, St Bernard’s church, 228 Lincoln St. where her funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial with full military honors will follow next to her parents in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
