Albert Verdini, 94,(he would have been 95 in June 28) of Worcester passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018 with his family gathered at his bedside. Albert was born in Worcester, one of two sons of Guerino and Ida (Pascucci) Verdini. He was raised in Worcester and for a time in Italy. Albert graduated from Grafton Street Preparatory school and later Worcester Boys Trade School. Albert then, joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 serving his country proudly during World War II. Upon, discharge from active duty, Albert married Anna Salerno and began their life together raising their family with love until Anna passed away in 1997. Albert provided for his family in the Plastic’s industry for nearly 50 years; first for Worcester Molded Plastics and retiring from a manufacturer in Clinton. Albert is survived by his son, Joseph Verdini and his wife Judy and his daughter Linda Normandin all of Worcester; three grandchildren, Richard Verdini, Joseph Verdini and his wife Misty and Annina Verdini; five great grandchildren whom he adored, Carlie, Niko, Delina, Michelina and Genevieve; nieces, nephews and extended family members. Besides his wife Anna; Albert was pre deceased by his son in law, Gregory Normandin and brother, Edo Verdini. With an interest and ability in wood crafting, Albert found his enjoyment especially with his family, and the countless hours he found peace and gratification in his wood shop creating just about anything he wanted. Wood carvings were his specialty. He was a founding member of the New England and National Woodcarvers Associations. He also taught wood carving and crafts in the City Schools Night life program and several crafts institutes in the area. He also exhibited his carvings in the Worcester Public Library. Albert and his brother Edo, raised for a time in Italy, loved to travel back many times to see family and friends there. Funeral services for Albert will be held Tuesday, January 16th 2018 at 11:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St John Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to a period of calling hours from 9:30 am to 11:00 am prior to the service in the funeral home.
