Mary (Norton) D'Antonino

October 21, 1941 — January 2, 2018

Mary A (Norton) D’Antonino, 76 of Worcester passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 2, 2018 surrounded by her family.  Mary, a daughter of Frank and Rowena (Mason) Norton was born and raised in Fitchburg.  She graduated from St Bernard’s High School class of 1960 and entered the, Sisters of the Presentation BVM Convent in Fitchburg. She then earned her education and teaching degree from Regina Coeli College also in Fitchburg. While a member of the religious order, Mary began her working career as a teacher, and after leaving the convent in 1970, continued to teach and substitute at many area schools.  Mary then accepted a position as program manager for the Massachusetts Easter Seals Society where she worked for the next 28 years before retiring.    In 1972, Mary’s life changed when she married the “Love of her Life” and partner for the next 45 years, Anthony M. D’Antonino.   They together began to raise their two daughters and grandchildren with love and devotion.   She is survived by her Love, Anthony; her two daughters, Lisa M. Delany and her husband Christopher and Lori D’Antonino and former son in law Richard Webster ,all of Worcester; The three grandchildren she cherished, found so much pride with and who called her “Nana”, Kaylee, Christopher, and Noah; A  sister, Roann Humphrey’s and her husband Steve of Harwich; two Sisters in law Cathy Norton of Peabody and Nan Norton of Phoenix; many Nieces, nephews, Godchildren, extended family and friends.  She is predeceased by her brothers Robert and Frank Norton and a sister Jackie O'Dell.   Mary was a member of St George Church and former member of its Women’s Guild and choir and enjoyed working one time as the rectory housekeeper. She also was active with the Girl Scouts of America, from childhood to adulthood. The matriarch of her family, she most enjoyed being wife, mother and Nana.  Her husband and family were her life’s inspiration and pride.  She enjoyed the holidays, special celebrations and anytime she could have them all around her.   She also enjoyed her trips, cruises and vacationing with Tony and best friends Joyce and Bob Marvin, watching the birds in her backyard, reading, crochet and her home.  Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Monday, January 8th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St.   Her funeral will be held Tuesday, January 9th from the funeral home with a procession to her church, St George’s, 40 Brattle St where her funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 am.   Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
