Patricia (Lilly) McManus, 87 of Shrewsbury died peacefully Tuesday, December 26, 2017 in Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Leo F. McManus, her four daughters, Carey A. Kozlowski and her husband John of Auburn, Erin M. Motameni and her husband Essie of Boylston, Maureen P. Umphrey and her husband James of Northborough and Tara M. Doyle and her husband Robert of Glastonbury, Connecticut. She also leaves ten grandchildren, Julie Kozlowski, David and Lisa Motameni, Jay, Tim, Caitlin and Matthew Umphrey, Joseph, Kathryn and Clare Doyle. She is predeceased by her parents and a sister, Constance Lilly. Patricia was born in Shirley, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Dr. Edward T. Lilly, M.D. and Phyllis (Norgard) Lilly. She lived with her husband Leo and her four daughters in Worcester for most of her life. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Fitchburg State Teachers College and later in her life a Master of Science Degree in Social Services from Anna Maria College in Paxton. She began her career as an Elementary School Teacher for the Townsend School district and later for the Gardner School district. Patricia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and spent her life focused on her family. In addition to family activities, she supported many philanthropic causes. She was a Volunteer at Saint Vincent Hospital and in her later years knit baby hats and Afghans for its nursery and Prayer Shawls for hospital patients and other religious causes. Patricia’s funeral will be held Thursday, January 4, 2018 from the Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel at 370 Plantation Street Worcester, MA with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove Street, Worcester, Massachusetts. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, January 3rd from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Mercadante Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Fitchburg following her Funeral Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church. In lieu of flowers, Donations in Patricia’s memory can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of the Immaculate Conception Church in Worcester.
