Grace C. (Shattuck) Mero

- Grace C. (Shattuck) Mero, 93, a lifelong resident of Worcester Massachusetts died peacefully Wednesday December 27, 2017 at home. Mrs. Mero was born in Worcester the daughter of the late George and Anna (McDonough) Shattuck and lived in Worcester her entire life. She is survived by her sons, Frank Mero and  wife Dolores of Vero Beach, Florida, and David Mero and wife Susan of Worcester. Mrs. Mero was predeceased in death by her husband, Frank P. Mero.   Grace was a exceptionally loyal and devoted grandmother to Vanessa Mero-Arcuri of Sutton Massachusetts, Matthew Mero of Ft. Pierce Florida, Jill Brooks and Wendy Ford both of Worcester and well as six great grand children. She also leaves her sister Veronica Keating of Worcester along with many nephews and nieces.   Grace worked for the Massachusetts Department of Natural Resources retiring in 1981. Upon retiring Grace and Frank enjoyed many years wintering in Delray Beach Florida. She and her husband were avid golfers enjoying many days on the course with friends. She was a life member of  Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish and enjoyed all sports especially her beloved Red Sox and Patriots. Grace was very personable with a propensity for making new friends easily. Her most treasured times were those spent with family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.   Grace’s funeral will be held on Friday January 5, 2018 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:AM in Our Lady of Loreto Church 33 Massasoit Rd. Worcester Ma 01604. Visiting hours with the family will be held on Friday morning only from 9:30AM to 10:30AM in the funeral home prior to the Mass. Interment with her husband will be in St John's Cemetery.
