Jeanne E. (Moses) Maspero, 96, a long-time resident of Winchester, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Notre Dame Long Term Care Center in Worcester. She was predeceased by her loving husband of fifty-three years, Joseph “Joe” C. Maspero. Jeanne is survived by a son, Joseph C. Maspero, Jr., of Canton, MI; a daughter, Janet L. Maspero and her long-time companion, William Corcoran of Northborough, and a niece and nephew. She was predeceased by her brother, George L. Moses, of East Falmouth. Jeanne was born on July 19, 1921 in Medford to Harold and Beatrice (Lester) Moses. She spent her entire childhood in Medford. Following her high school graduation in 1939, she matriculated to Katharine Gibbs School to pursue a two-year education in secretarial studies. Jeanne then worked as a legal secretary for ten years at a law firm in Boston. She married her loving husband, Joseph, in 1947. They settled in Winchester in 1953 where they raised their family. Jeanne remained a resident of Winchester for 64 years. In August of this year, she moved to Notre Dame so she could be closer to her daughter. Jeanne was especially devoted to her family. She was actively engaged in the school, music and sports activities of her children. She enjoyed family boating trips along the Cape Ann seashore as well as summer vacations on Cape Cod and Maine’s Moosehead and Long Lakes. She loved the holidays in terms of baking traditions, household decorations, festivities planning, poetry writing, and hosting a Christmas party each year for family and close friends. Following Joe’s retirement in 1976, Jeanne and Joe took several trips to Europe. They followed up on their overseas adventures with several U.S. auto tours. Their frequent travels resulted in Jeanne’s affection for creating scrapbooks, travel journals and photo albums. Of her many travel destinations, Jeanne’s favorite in later years became the ancestral homestead of her father’s family in Port Maitland, Nova Scotia. It served as the site of summer reunions with her grown children, brother and his family. During her many visits there, she enjoyed cooking up Down East delights, picking blueberries and baking her mouth-watering blueberry pie, beach walking, collectibles shopping, seaside picnicking, and sightseeing the province. Throughout her lifetime, Jeanne was passionate about music. She was an accomplished pianist who performed at social functions as a teen and young woman, liked to accompany her horn-playing son, and entertained her family with both classical and seasonal selections. In her senior years, she enjoyed simply sitting and listening to her sizeable collection of CDs and cassette tapes which spanned a variety of musical genres. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 12 Noon, preceded by a time of visitation from 11 a.m. at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA.
