Matteo Chronchio, 95, of West Boylston, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, December 25, 2017 at Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center. He leaves his wife and best friend of sixty-seven years, Sue (Bisceglia) Chronchio; a daughter, Linda Boyer and her husband Jay; a son Michael Chronchio, all of Worcester; two grandchildren, Amanda and Kayla Boyer; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony and Albert Chronchio and four sisters, Elizabeth Fortin, Rita Desroches, Estelle Desroches, and Joanna Salvatore. Matteo was born in Worcester, the son of Albina and Nicholas Chronchio. He was a graduate of Commerce High and thereafter joined the US Army in 1942 to serve in World War II. He later moved to West Boylston, where he resided for over fifty years. He worked at Wright Line for thirty-five years, upon retiring worked part time at the Big D/Price Chopper in West Boylston. He was involved with many leagues and societies such as the Lincoln Lanes bowling leagues, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and the Greendale Men’s Club. He enjoyed spending Saturday nights dancing at the Froshinn Club; but his fondest times were those spent with family. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center for their kind and compassionate care given while there. Friends and relatives are invited to a period of calling hours, Saturday, December 30th from 8:30 am to 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St Worcester before departing in procession to Our Lady of Good Counsil, 111 Worcester Street, West Boylston where his celebration of life Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery in Worcester.
