Margaret N. (Tomaiolo) Fortunato, 96, of Worcester died peacefully Wednesday December 13, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Margaret’s husband Joseph M “Joe Lucky” Fortunato died August 24, 2015. She is survived by her devoted children, a son Joseph M. Fortunato Jr. and his wife Susan of Millbury, and a daughter Mary M. Fortunato-Habib of Paxton, and her son in law Rudy Arn. Margaret was the proud grandmother to seven grandchildren; Paul P. Lombardi and his wife Sheryl, Michael J. Lombardi and his wife Crystal, Nicholas J. Fortunato and his wife Jodi, Peter J. Fortunato and his wife Heather, Joseph M. Fortunato lll and his wife Daniele, Nicolette L. Habib and Krystina M. Habib. Margaret also leaves her great grandchildren; Emily, Anthony, Sofia, Michael, Giuliana, Angelo, Joseph lV, Michela, Enzo,and Madaline, along with several loving nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her loving daughter and son in law, Madaline R. Arn and Joseph M. Habib. Margaret was predeceased by two brothers, Edward M Tomaiolo Sr. and James D. Tomaiolo, and five sisters, Phyllis Palumbo, Mary Tomaiolo, Genevieve Pugliese, Josephine Tomaiolo, and Michelina Cariglia. Margaret was born in Worcester daughter of Michael and Maddalena (Ricci) Tomaiolo and lived here all her life. She was a graduate of Commerce High School. Margaret worked for the New England Telephone Company for many years as an Administrative Assistant in the Engineering Department before she retired. Margaret was a longtime member of their Pioneer Club. Margaret was a life member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Ann and its Golden Years Club and Women’s Guild. She also sang in the Choir there for many years. Margaret was also a member of the Froshinn Club. Margaret was an avid reader, she loved her crossword puzzles, and poetry. While living at Notre Dame Assisted Living she became a member of their puzzle group and enjoyed playing cards. Margaret had a real zest for life, she loved going shopping and traveling with Joe, and enjoyed a good day at the Casino! Although her most treasured times were when she was with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Margaret will be terribly missed by her family and friends. Margaret’s funeral will be held on Monday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL with a Mass oF Christian burial at 10:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Providence/St Bernards, 228 Lincoln St. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours to Celebrate Margaret’s life on Sunday December 17, from 3PM to 6PM in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. Interment in the family lot will be in St John’s Cemetery.
