Margaret E. (Lapan) Lucci, 101, six weeks short of her 102nd birthday, passed away, Saturday, November 25th 2017 with her loving family gathered by her side after a brief period of declining health. Margaret was born in Cambridge, Vermont, the second child of twelve of Jacob and Hazel (Goslett) Lapan. Along with her parents and siblings, Margaret moved to Berlin, Massachusetts where she grew up. In 1947, she married Patrick Lucci and they settled in the Lincoln Street neighborhood of Worcester where they raised their daughter, lived happily in love and devotion before Patrick passed away in 2003 after 56 years of marriage. Margaret continued to live in her home independently until this year. Margaret worked as a printer for the Paul Revere Insurance Company for over 15 years until retiring in 1978. She previously worked for the U.S. Envelope Company and Saltus Press Company. Margaret is survived by her devoted daughter, Janice Louis and her husband Ronald of Millbury; the three grandchildren she lived for and called daily, Kristin Lobas and her husband Joseph, Katie McQuade and her husband Paul, and Andrew Louis; a great granddaughter Audrey Margaret; her sister, Evelyn Mullane; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides her husband Patrick, Margaret was predeceased by five brothers, Shepley “Shep”, Richard, Raymond, Frank and Louis Lapan and five sisters, Carlene Gannon, Louise “Helen” Lucia, Fannie Lemay, Jacqueline Pasquale and Henrietta Lapan. Margaret was a longtime member of Our Lady of Province, St Bernard’s Church and the Worcester Senior Center. An independent woman, Margaret cherished the family she had; she looked out and cared for her siblings and especially made sure she talked to her daughter and granddaughters every day. They were her life’s inspiration and pride. She looked forward to every Thursday when she would spend the day playing cards at the Millbury Senior Center and the rest of the time with her daughter and grandchildren. The holidays, birthdays and special times she spent with them were the most precious moments in her life. Margaret also enjoyed Bingo, the occasional Foxwood trips. Her smile and company will surely be missed. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Tuesday, November 28th 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, November 29th departing from the funeral home with a procession to her church, Our Lady of Providence Church, 228 Lincoln St. where family friend, Rev Walter Riley will celebrate her funeral mass at 10:00 am.
