Doris B. (Zine) Massad, born on November 10, 1921, beloved wife of the late Francis P. Massad, Sr. passed peacefully Tuesday, November 14th 2017 in the University of Massachusetts Hospital surrounded by her loving children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Doris was the daughter of Michael and Mary (Michael’s) Zine. Born into a close-knit Syrian-Lebanese community of Boston’s South End and lived there until she married the “Love of Her Life” Francis on September 9, 1941 and moved to Worcester, beginning a 46 years marriage of Love, devotion and family until Francis passed away on April 28, 1987. Doris loved and took pride in her family and in her home. She was very warm and known for her welcoming hospitality. One of her greatest pleasures was traveling with her husband and family. Doris is survived by her six children; Dowilda Benoit, Donna M. Salerno and her husband Nicola, Michael F. Massad, Mary Stanley and her husband James, Robert J. Massad and his wife Kathy, Francis P Massad, Jr and his partner Debbie Almeida. Doris also leaves behind her loving sister-in-law and friend Ruby Zine; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; soon to be great great grandmother; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides her husband Francis; a granddaughter, Lisa Salerno, three brothers, Edward, Paul and George Zine and 4 sisters, Helen Massad, Grace Nassif, Dorothy Solomon and Gloria Matta all predeceased her. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Friday, November 17, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be celebrated Saturday, November 18th departing from the funeral home at 10:30 am with a procession to Our Lady of Mercy Church, 341 June Street where her Mass will be held at 11:00 am.
