Vito Angelo Lopopolo, 84, of Worcester passed away peacefully on Monday, November 13, 2017 in his home with his family at his side. With the sounds of Italian Music at his bed side and the aroma of his wife’s homemade Italian sauce simmering on the stovetop, Vito was surrounded by all the love and comforts of his life. Vito was born and raised in Bisceglia, Italy one of eight children of Antonio and Pasqualina (Gisondi) Lopopolo. He was educated and served in the Italian Navy, before immigrating to the United States at the age of 33 in 1966. In that same year he married his Love, Leda Marie Ventura. From that point Vito and Leda began a 51 year marriage of love, dedication, devotion and family. Vito began providing for his family working for the DiPierro Corporation in Shrewsbury, and later Bee Plastics for more than 20 years before accepting a position with Norton Company as a machinist for another 10 years before retiring in 1998. Vito is survived by his wife Leda; his two sons, Anthony Lopopolo, his wife Michelle and their five daughters, Elizabeth, Katherine, Jacqueline, Madelynn & Caroline of Princeton, Daniel Lopopolo, and his children, Emilie & Vincent of Worcester; a brother, Donato Lopopolo; three sisters, Nina DiTerlizzi, Grazielle Ingravalle, Lucia Sasso and her husband Antonio; and a sister in law, Elisa Lopopolo all in Bisceglia, Italy; Many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. A brother, Sergio Lopopolo, and two sisters, Maria Dell’Olio and Antoinette Lopopolo all pre deceased him. Vito was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church and the former UNICO club. He was an avid salt water fisherman, a job he had commercially in his youth in Italy and continued his fishing passion here with his sons and grandchildren at his side. He loved their home on Cape Cod at Monument beach, the Boston Red Sox and traveling back to Bisceglia Italy to see family and friends. He was an avid gardener and loved to cook. His wife, sons and their families were the most important aspects of his life. He cherished the Holidays, special occasions and any time he could be with his family. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Friday, November 17th 2017, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral service will be held Saturday, November 18th at 11:00 am in the funeral home.
