Maria Theresa (Sainato) Lee was born in Somerville, MA in 1917. The youngest child of Joseph and Annella Sainato-(Mallano) and sister to seventeen brothers and sisters, of which, eleven lived to full maturity. She was married to Thomas M. Lee, of Somerville. Marie, aka: Mary Lee, graduated from Somerville High School in 1935 and attended nursing training classes in Boston. She was employed by a private practice medical doctor as a medical assistant and office manager for most of her working years. Retiring in1968 she and Thomas, moved to California, where for several years she volunteered her musical skills on the organ at her church and also volunteered her medical office skills at a monastery in Santa Barbara, CA. and The Santa Barbara Medical Clinic. Marie and Thomas had no children, but through the years, opened their home and hearts to many of her thirty one nieces and nephews. Having a love of style and fashion, she was known as a "fashion plate" by many of her friends and family. She furnished her home with decorative collectables such as Capodimonte lamps from Italy, Hummel figurines from Germany, Crystal Glassware from Ireland and her favorite possession, a shiny new robin's egg blue Mustang convertible she purchased when they moved to sunny California. After living there for twenty years, Tom developed medical issues and they decided to move back to Massachusetts because of its renowned healthcare. They settled in Worcester. Marie T. Lee passed away at the age of 100 at the Webster Manor Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Webster, MA.
