John T. Campbell, Sr., 87 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in the comforts of his own home with his family by his side. John was born in Worcester, a son of the late Vincent C. and Catherine M. (Christman) Campbell. He was a graduate of Commerce High School and had lived all his life in Worcester. John worked for the Department of Public Works for the City of Worcester for over 50 years. He also served his country proudly during the Korean Conflict for the United States Navy. John loved his family. John’s life revolved around his great grandchildren, who kept him vibrant and going. John’s wife, Sylvia M. (Brunelle) Campbell passed away on September 14, 2014. He is survived by his son, John T. Campbell, Jr. of Worcester; his daughter, Julie Tseki and her husband David of Peabody; five beloved grandchildren, Dennis Campbell and his longtime companion Mandy Burns of Woonsocket, Katherine Campbell, Patrick Campbell and his fiancé Heather Finnegan all of Worcester, Daniel Campbell and his wife Erica of Leicester, and Ryan Campbell of Worcester; two sisters, Alice Crouse and her husband Warren of Sommerville, ME and Nancy Gianinno and her husband Andrew of North Attleboro; nine great grandchildren who keep him young at heart; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by four brothers, Charles A., Vincent C., Joseph and Philip Campbell; a sister, Mary R. Campbell. A period of calling hours will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 from 9-10 am with his funeral service to begin at 10:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial with military funeral honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Westborough.
