Paul W. Stooke

January 24, 1930 — October 12, 2017

Paul W. Stooke, 87, of Holden, formerly of Worcester, passed away on October 12, 2017. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Irene (Gabree) Stooke. Paul is survived by his four children, Paula Hunter and her husband Robert of Northborough; Dorothy Perry, wife of the late Richard Perry of Holden; William Stooke of Worcester; and Debra LeCara of Moosup, CT; a sister, Grace Torowski of Worcester; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandsons; many nieces and nephews.  Paul was predeceased by a grandson, Johnny Poulin; two great grandsons, Joshy Williams and Jimmy Poulin; and two sisters and a brother, Myrtle Thomson, Muriel Bibik, and Earle Stooke.  Paul was born in Worcester, son of the late William and Gertrude (Woodward) Stooke, and had lived in Worcester most of his life before moving to Holden in 2015. Paul worked for many years as a meat cutter for Boston Beef Company, Chicago Dressed Beef and Fairway Beef.  He was an active volunteer at The Salvation Army, Worcester Citadel Corp becoming “Volunteer of the Year” in 2005.  He enjoyed his meals at Jake’s Cafe in West Boylston. His blue eyes and white hair always got him good service from Sam, Judy & Tina and anywhere else he went. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed movies, cookouts and watching the mushrooms grow in his front yard. He was always ready with a good joke/story and enjoyed making people laugh. He loved animals, especially going to see the puppies run. Paul also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune & Family Feud and contributing to the MA Lottery games. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Chaffin Congregational Church, 155 Shrewsbury Street, Holden at 4:00 p.m.; Retired Major Karen K. Satterlee of The Salvation Army will preside. Burial in Hope Cemetery, Worcester will be held privately. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dennis Paquette and Joan Bellizzi from the Jewish Healthcare Hospice for the wonderful care given to their father. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Salvation Army, Worcester Citadel Corp, 640 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01608. Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, Worcester.
