Doris (Lemay) Richard, 86, of Leicester passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 11th 2017. Born and raised in Worcester; Doris was one of four children of the late Roland and Dorothy (Germain) Lemay. She graduated from Commerce High school and earned her degree in nursing from the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She then began a 30 plus year career in several different types of nursing. Doris ultimately found her niche in the City of Worcester department of public health as a school nurse where she worked for over 20 years before retiring. Doris leaves her husband and soulmate of over 64 years Joe; four devoted children, Denise Michaud, Annette Richard-Sessa and her husband John, Cecile Collier, Joseph Richard, Jr. and his wife Linda; her former son in law David Collier, Sr.; 10 grandchildren, Joseph and his wife Megan, Eric and his companion Amy, Jessica and her husband Ken, James, Jillian, Jacob, Yvonne and her husband Nate, David and his fiancée Laura, Andrew, Adam and his wife Jen; and 10 great grandchildren. Doris also leaves behind her siblings, Jean Gaumond, Ronald Lemay and his wife Gwen; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Her granddaughter, Dawn Michaud passed away in 2014 and brother Bertrand Lemay this past August. Doris unending love was for her family; her husband Joe, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren always came first. They were her life. The special moments she could share with them were her inspiration and greatest joy. She cherished her home on Burncoat Pond in Leicester. gardening, watching the birds in her yard, especially hummingbirds. Doris also loved traveling with Joe especially to Cocoa beach to visit their daughter and family. Her presence, love, sharp wit and guidance will be sorely missed. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Sunday, October 15th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Monday, October 16th from the funeral home with a procession to St Joseph Church, 35 Hamilton St. where the celebration of life mass will be celebrated by family friend Rev. Thomas Egan. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances in her name can be made to “Why Me”, 1152 Pleasant St. Worcester.
