Louis J Sclamo, 88, of Worcester, former owner of Sclamo Home Furnishings of Millbury passed away peacefully Friday, October 6, 2017, with family gathered at his side. Louis, one of eight children of Pasquale and Louisa (Nuzzolillo) Sclamo, was born and raised in Worcester and lived here all his life before moving to Shrewsbury 4 years ago. After graduating from High School Louis joined the U.S. Army serving his country proudly during the Korean War. Louis began his working life with the former Johnson Steel and Wire Company in Worcester. He then enrolled in classes in TV repair. In 1968, Louis founded the former S N S TV in Shrewsbury operating it with friends until 1970 when he sold his share in the business and founded Sclamo TV with his wife Marcie on Burncoat Street in Worcester, guiding and building his company over the next 25 years until 1995, when he retired and turned the operation over to his son Peter. Louis then guided his son Gary in a sister store and became a fixture greeting customers with smiles and laughter in both locations. Louis wife and “love of his life” for 46 years Thomasina “Marcie” (Vescera) Sclamo passed away in 2001. His son Paul Sclamo passed away in 1964, granddaughter Cassandra Sclamo in 2015, son in law David Specht in 2011, Gary's companion, Cathy Hastings who he considered a daughter in law in 2006. He is survived by his three children, Gina Specht with whom he lived, Gary Sclamo, Peter Sclamo and his wife Charlene all of Rutland; three grandchildren; Michael, Kayla and Kateri; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The last child of Pasquale and Louisa, Louis was predeceased by seven siblings, Vito, Vincent, Joseph, Samuel and Pasquale Sclamo, Mary Andolina, and Pauline Davis. Louis was a member of Our Lady of Rosary, The Post 3, Italian American War Veterans, and Eastside Improvement Association. An avid golfer, Louis could be seen most sunny days on the greens and fairways of Wachusett Country Club. He also loved bingo and attended game nights regularly. He also, loved following the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. In business, Louis believed the customer always came first and would guide his company to succeed and provide exceptional service to them. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 12th at 11:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street. Burial with military honors will follow in St. John Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held Thursday, Oct 12th from 9:30 am to 11:00 am.
