James “Jimmy” Murray, Born October 23, 1946, Jim Murray passed away peacefully on October 3 at the age of 70. He is survived by his family: brothers and sisters Mark Murray of Worcester, MA, Sheila Murray of West Stockbridge, MA, Eileen Murray and husband Kurt Janson of East Calais, VT, Thomas Murray and finance Sydney Bacenas of Santa Monica, CA; niece Amy Whitehead and husband Michael Novaria with sons Miles and Wyatt, nephews Ryan Murray, Ross Murray and Seth Murray of Worcester MA, and nephew Graham Janson of East Calais, VT. Jim is predeceased by his parents, John P. Murray and M. Jeanette Murray Rizzuto and his stepfather, William J. Rizzuto Jim was the epitome of his favorite word “JOY”. Whenever encountering the word on a card or sign or even seeing the word within another word, Jim would quickly point out his discovery to all around with a giggle of excitement. In these moments, Jim created the joy for anyone present. It was his way of encouraging the rest of us to look for the joy in life. He was a huge fan of the old-time country music with his favorites being New England’s own Clyde Joy, along with Hank Williams Sr. and Ernest Tubb. He also enjoyed TV classics including The Three Stooges (whom he could quote word for word), I Love Lucy, and Jackie Gleason’s Honeymooners. Jim loved singing along to his favorite country artists and dancing at the events sponsored by the Berkshire County ARC. He also participated in The Special Olympic games with his friends. James family wishes to thank the kind and caring staff at Berkshire County ARC Center for Development and many thanks to all the staff at Jimmy’s residence in Pittsfield. Calling hours for James will be held on Friday, October 6th from 11:00am to 11:30am in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. A prayer service will follow at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at Saint John Cemetery, Worcester. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 23, 2017 in Pittsfield, MA. Location to be determined.
