Russell C. Smith, age 62, succumbed to Glioblastoma a form of brain cancer after a courageous 13 month battle on Friday, September 22, 2017, surrounded by love and memories. Russ leaves behind his loving wife of 36 years, Lynda (Anderson) Smith, of Charlton, MA; his two daughters, Lynsey Grinstein and her husband, Aaron, of Ashfield, MA, and Carly Marazzi and her husband John, of Revere, MA, and his two beloved grandchildren, Aeden and Lyra Grinstein; his brother and sister, Richard and his wife Ellen Smith, and Cheri and her husband David Hamilton, both of River Edge, NJ. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Russ was born on October 30th, 1954 in Teaneck, New Jersey to the late Ruth Collings and Edwin Smith. Russ worked at Ametek in Mahwah, NJ as a Senior Sales Engineer for 21 years. He was a great family man and a loving father. Russ was a social, active guy with many interests. He enjoyed hiking, boating and home projects. He was a former President of the Glen Echo Lake Improvement Association, where he was instrumental in establishing the Lake Preservation Fund and also belonged to the Appalachian Mountain Club. His family and friends will always remember him as a witty, intelligent person. A wake is scheduled for Thursday, October 19th from 4-7pm at the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Worcester. All are welcome to attend and celebrate his life’s legacy on Friday, October 20th at 10 am in The Federated Church of Charlton followed by a luncheon at the Public House in Sturbridge, MA.
