Walter W. Dover, Sr., 74 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Rose Monahan Hospice Residence. Walter was born in Worcester, a son of the late Almon W. and Jean E. (MacLean) Dover. He graduated from Worcester Schools and later attended Worcester State College. Walter served his country for 6 years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Albany. After he was discharged, Walter worked as a police officer for the City of Wilmington, Delaware for 10 years later returning to Worcester. He worked as a security supervisor for various companies most recently the Worcester Art Museum for 25 years. Walter is survived by three sons, Robert M. Dover of Alabama, Joseph M. and Michael R. Dover both of Worcester; a brother, Gordon Dover of Maine; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by a son, Walter W. Dover, Jr. and a sister, Shirley Cote. Services for Walter were held privately. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester was honored to have assisted the family with arrangements.
