Rose M. (Casillo) Balsamo, 93, of Worcester and Coconut Creek, Florida, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at her home in Florida, with her daughter at her bedside. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony S. Balsamo. Rose is survived by a daughter, Josephine Balsamo of Coconut Creek, FL; three sisters, Amelia Sachetto, Mary Amato, and Gloria Schofield. She was predeceased by her son, Anthony Balsamo, Jr., in 1974, as well as by a sister, Raefella Casillo, and three brothers, Eugene Casillo, Michael Casillo, and Anthony Casillo. Rose was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, Stanley and Amelia (Romano) Casillo. She graduated from Worcester Public Schools. While she called Worcester her home, Rose and her husband, enjoyed many years travelling to Florida, and it was her second home for many years following his death. Rose worked as a nursing assistant for many years, at Memorial Hospital in Worcester, before she retired. Rose loved her family and cherished her friends. She found great joy in gatherings with friends playing BINGO, cards, or socializing. She loved to cook for her family and was certain to make many treasures as she knitted. Calling Hours for Rose will held on Friday morning, September 8, from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, followed by a procession to church for a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester, MA 01604. Interment will follow at Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
