Lily M. Walker of Worcester, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 28, 2017. She was 70 years old. Lily is survived by her loving son, Christopher J. Walker and his wife Deborah of Oakham; her cherished granddaughter , Ava M. Walker of Oakham; two brothers, Mylon Walker and Edward Longmier; five sisters, Dolores Oakes, Sharon Nagy, Alice Silva, Alma Bennett, and Elizabeth Grant; she was predeceased by a sister, Frances Henley. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and many close friends. She was born in Roxboro, North Carolina, daughter of the late, Robert E. Walker and Gladys Whitfield. Lily worked hard as a single mom and was extremely proud of her son and his accomplishments, but it was the birth of her granddaughter, Ava that brought an entire new light and so much joy to her life. She and Ava were best of friends and did so much together. They enjoyed shopping, going to lunch, playing video games, watching movies, laughing and being silly. Lily was not one to slow down, so even after retiring, she continued to work full time as an administrative assistant for The Law Firm of Fuller, Rosenberg, Palmer & Beliveau in Worcester. She enjoyed poetry, writing, reading, singing and had a love for animals. She had a passion for socializing but most of all she loved spending time with her son and his family. She always looked forward to her annual trip to “home coming” where she could visit with her family and friends in North Carolina.Calling Hours for Lily will be held in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, on Tuesday, September 5, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., when her Funeral Service will begin. On Wednesday, September 6, family will welcome friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., when a procession will depart for a graveside service at Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
