Paula E. (Toney) Rucker, 72, of Worcester passed away peacefully Friday, August 25, 2017 after a long illness. Paula’s husband James C. Rucker passed away in 2005. Paula is survived by her beloved family; Her children, Patricia R. Rucker, and Michelle Johnson both of Worcester; her stepchildren, Andrea, Orlean, and James C. Rucker, Jr all of Springfield, Illinois; and Warren Washington of Worcester; four sisters, Nellie Butler, Barbara Nwalozie, Nancy Charleston, and Licine Jane Carter and a brother, Leonard H. Hazzard, Jr. all of Worcester; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and four step grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Paula was born in Worcester and lived here all her life. She worked many years for the Digital Equipment Corporation before retiring. She was an enrolled member of the Nipmuc Nation and a true dedicated Patriots fan. Her potato salad was famous for the love she put into making it. Funeral services for Paula will be held Saturday, September 2nd at 10:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am in the funeral home prior to the service.
