Michael Richard Rana, 100, of West Boylston, died peacefully Monday August 7, 2017, in the Christopher House. Michael is survived by his wife Ann (McMahon) Rana, his daughter Arlene F. Maurello wife of the late Joseph T. Maurello, a brother Maurice Rana of Worcester and a sister Rose Oliver of Auburn. Mike was the proud grandfather to Anthony Maurello and his wife Jennifer of Auburn, Jennifer Maurello of Auburn, and Marcie Warner and her husband Christopher of East Providence. He also leaves his great grandchildren Joseph Coburn, and Sophia and Hannah Maurello, and many nephews and nieces. Michael was predeceased by his first wife, Michelina DeLalla, and three brothers Frank, Domenic, and Nicholas and sister Adeline Riccio. Michael was born in Worcester son of the late Giovanni and Adeline (Faccenda) Rana, and upon his mother's death, was raised from infancy by Giovanni and Frances Rana. Michael was a graduate of North High School and also attended Worcester PolyTechnical Institute. He was a Metallurgist Engineer for the Wyman Gordon Company Grafton and Worcester plants in Research and Development as a Registered Engineer for the Commonwealth of Mass. Among his many affiliations Mike was a member of the International American Society of Metals, and the Professional Engineers Society of Massachusetts. Mike was a longtime member of the Men’s Biscegliese Society where he was the Secretary for 22 years. He was also a member of the Retired Greendale Men’s Club the East Side Improvement Club, as well as the Froshinn Club. Mike was an extraordinary cook,and a wonderful gardener. He enjoyed fishing and golfing, but his most treasured times were those he spent with his family. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Michael's funeral will be held on Friday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in the Church of St John 40 Temple St. Calling hours in the funeral home will be on Thursday evening from 4PM to 7PM.
