Carmella “Camille” (D’Elia) Soucy, 77, of Worcester passed away Thursday, August 3rd surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. Camille is survived by her adoring family: husband Robert D. Soucy, her son Robert A. Soucy and his wife Lisa, her son Steven Soucy and his wife Marie and her daughter Karla McAuliffe and her husband Chris. She was a devoted “Nonni” to her grandsons Benjamin, Dominic, Vinny, Matthew, John and Joseph. Camille also leaves her brother Ralph D’Elia and his wife Cathy, her sister Gloria D’Elia, and her sister Carleen Ford. She is predeceased by her mother Eleanor D’Elia, her father Anthony D’Elia, and her brother-in-law Anthony Ford. Camille was born in Worcester where she lived all her life. She graduated from Commerce High School where she met the love of her life, Bob. After high school, Camille worked at Denholm’s department store until she left to raise her family. Once her children were grown, Camille reentered the workforce working 30 years as a Hospice Home Health Aide, a phenomenal career that she felt was her calling. Her deep faith in God fostered a life dedicated to the service of others. She was honored for her compassionate care receiving multiple awards including the Home Health Care Association of Massachusetts Clinical Excellence Award and the VNA Extra Mile Award. Camille was known for her love of family and was happiest when feeding her delicious food to family, friends or anyone in need. Whether it was chocolate chip cookies or macaroni and meatballs, every bite overflowed with love! A celebration of Camille’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 9th. Visiting hours with the family will be at Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel 370 Plantation St. from 9 – 10:30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Loreto Church on 33 Massasoit Rd. Interment will follow at St. John’s cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Overlook Hospice at 88 Masonic Rd in Charlton, Mass.
