Margaret T. Tuttle

November 5, 1931 — July 29, 2017

Margaret T. (Hayes) Tuttle, 85, of Worcester, passed away in her home, surrounded by loving family on Saturday, July 29, 2017.  Margaret is survived by her loving husband of sixty-four years, Robert L. Tuttle; their five children, Roberta Brien of Barre, Robert L. Tuttle, Jr. and his wife Mary of Jefferson, Diane Tuttle of Worcester, Pamela Sandakli and her husband Jay of Spencer, and Dorothy Davis and her husband Daniel of Worcester; sixteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.  She is also survived by two brothers, William Hayes and George Hayes, both of Shrewsbury; a sister, Rita Perry of Worcester; many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters, Daniel, Edmund, and John Hayes, Eileen Atchue, and Patricia Vaudreuil.  She was born in Shrewsbury, daughter of the late, Patrick and Delia (Corcoran) Hayes.  Margaret enjoyed Sunday afternoon roller skating with her friends throughout her high school days.  After graduating from Shrewsbury High School, she was introduced to the love of her life, Robert Tuttle by her brothers who were also in the Navy with him.  After dating for a short time, they married in April 1953, which was the beginning of a twenty years chapter in her life as a Navy wife.  They moved several times throughout the country, while Robert served our nation.  Upon their departure from military service, they settled in Worcester, where they remained in the same home for over fifty years. Margaret worked as a Nurse’s Aide for over twenty years at Mill Hill Nursing Home in Worcester, before she retired.  She was a member of the former Saint Charles Borromeo Church in Worcester.  She enjoyed camping, traveling, knitting and sunbathing.  She was an avid arm-chair shopper right up until the end. Margaret’s family would like to extend a gracious “thank you” to her PCA, Lori, who took wonderful care of Margaret and kept her comfortable in her own home.  They would also like to thank the JHC Hospice, for the compassion and caring shown to Margaret as she completed her life journey.  As well as her lifelong friend Barbara who also stayed with her and family throughout. Calling Hours for Margaret will be held on Friday, August 4, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, August 5, from the funeral home, departing in procession at 9:40 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at Saint Anne Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Road (route 9 east), Shrewsbury, MA.  Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
