Michael J. Raymond, 92, longtime Shrewsbury Resident passed away Friday, July 28th 2017. Michael’s brother, Ralph, and sister, Irene have both predeceased him. Michael was born in Worcester, a son of Nicholas and Clotilde (Sica) Raymond. He grew up in Worcester, joined the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving his country proudly. In 1970, Michael married the “Love of his Life” Betty Rabidou on October 3rd 1970. They then settled in Shrewsbury where they have lived ever since. He worked many years for the former Cincinnati-Milacron Company as storeroom clerk before retiring. In retirement, Michael and Betty enjoyed spending many winters in Florida. Michael is survived by his devoted wife, Betty; his sisters and brother in law, Frances and Robert Laincz of Leicester and Jane Boltruczyk of Worcester; many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Besides his brother Ralph and sister Irene, Michael was pre deceased by a brother in law Edward Boltruczyk. Michael was a member of St Anne’s Church and the Eastside Post 201. He was a gentle man who loved being with Betty, loved sports and enjoyed working in his garden. A period of calling hours will be held Wednesday, August 2nd from 9:00 am to 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St before proceeding in procession to St Anne Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Road Shrewsbury, where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215.
