Shirley A. (Gillespie) Fenner-Surprenant, 78, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Saint Vincent Hospital. She is survived by her loving husband, Wilfred A. Surprenant; a daughter, Lynn A. Kania of Worcester; five sons, James M. Fenner of Worcester, Charles R. of Westminster, Paul J. Fenner of Worcester, Steven D. Fenner of Worcester, and Daniel J. Fenner of Paxton; fifteen grandchildren, Thomas, Brandon, Adam, Jessica, Nicole, Stephanie, Ashley, Joshua, Solomon, Buddy, Jacob, Anna, Alex, , Mackenzie and Andrew Shirley was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, John J. and Anna (Lancisi) Gillespie, and has lived here all her life. Shirley worked as a teacher for over thirty years in the Head Start Program in Worcester; where she delighted in helping younger minds grow and learn. She enjoyed watching the Red Sox, staying active, and spending time with her grandchildren. In honor of her life, her family will gather with friend and family for Memorial Calling Hours on Saturday, July 29, from 10 a.m. concluding with a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
