"Angela R. Marzillo, 93, of Worcester died peacefully on Saturday July 22, 2017 at home in the Eisenberg Assisted Living Center. Angela was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Francesco (Frank) and Olga (Amato) Marzillo and lived here all her life. Angela is survived by her nephew, Frank Ward, and nieces Carla F. Ward, Alida Ward Coleman, Maria A. Ward, and Angela O. Ward, and by her great nephews John C. Ahmad, Michael P. Ahmad, and Harrison Ganoe, and her great nieces Veronica R. Ahmad, Caitlin E. Coleman, Rachel R. Coleman, Janna Ward, and Faith Anne Ganoe. She was predeceased in 2010 by a sister Elvira M. Marzillo Ward of Falls Church Virginia. Angela attended Sacred Heart Academy, graduating as valedictorian of her high school class, and later attended the Salter Secretarial School in Worcester. She worked for several years in the Registrar of Voters Office in Worcester City Hall, then moved to the office of the Worcester Superior Clerk of Courts, where in 1972 she was appointed the Assistant Clerk of the Courts, eventually retiring in December of 1990 after 42 years of service. Angela was a life communicant of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Women’s Guild, the Golden Years Club, and the Italian Cultural Center. She was a Eucharistic Minister who enjoyed visiting with the homebound of her parish. Angela also did many hours of Volunteer service at the UMASS Memorial Hospital and made and donated blankets for babies born with the AIDS virus. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court Cardinal Wright #1563, and the Order of the Sons of Italy Lodge # 168, and the Calvary Retreat Women’s Guild. She read widely, painted, and worked in stained glass. Angela was a Recipient of the St. Thomas More Society Medal for Distinguished Laymen in October 1983. Despite a serious physical disability she gave unstintingly of her time and resources to others, living the principles of her strong religious faith daily, and was possessed of a humble heart and kind and generous soul. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her." Angela’s funeral will be held on Saturday July 29. from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Loreto 33 Massasoit Rd.
