Ronald S. Hanson, 76, of Dennis, formerly of Shrewsbury, passed away unexpectedly, on Friday, July 21, 2017, at Cape Cod Hospital. Ronald is survived by the love of his life, best friend and wife of nearly fifty-four years, Claire (DeMichele) Hanson; a son, Andrew D. Hanson and his wife Lee of Shrewsbury; two daughters, Lisa Marie Quigley and her husband Daniel Sr. of Shrewsbury, and Lynne Charmoli and her husband Scott of Grafton, WI; seven of the greatest gifts anyone could receive, his grandchildren, Erin, Daniel Jr., and Catherine Quigley, Victoria and Grace Charmoli, and Madison and Brooke Hanson; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth A. Fleming and in March by Carolyn Elizabeth Graves. Ronald was born in Worcester, son of the late, Sven D. and Elizabeth A. (Chevrefils) Hanson. He graduated from Shrewsbury High School, and received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1963 from Boston University, where he was a proud member of the university rowing team. Ronald worked as a Housing Manager for the City of Worcester Public Housing Authority for over twenty years, before he retired in 2008. While living in Shrewsbury he was a member of Saint Anne’s Church, where he had gone his entire life, as well as Our Lady of Mount Carmel; while on Cape Cod, he was a member of Our Lady of The Cape Church. He loved to golf and was a member of Dennis Pines Golf Club. He loved sports of all kinds, and was a devout fan of the Boston Red Sox, and New England Patriots. Ronald could build anything!!!. He and Claire built a beautiful marriage, a beautiful family, and a beautiful life full of wonderful memories. He built both of the homes the family lived in, in Shrewsbury; and although he didn’t build his home in Dennis, he certainly put his touch on the property by creating a beautiful Koi pond and a regulation size Bocce court. He was a masterful wood worker, and his talents were put to use on many projects large and small. He will be remembered as a great person. Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, July 25, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
