Rita (Bellino) DeFalco

April 2, 1925 — July 19, 2017

Rita (Bellino) DeFalco, a92 of Worcester passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 19, 2017 after a brief period of declining health.   Rita was born in Worcester on April 2, 1925, one of five children of Joseph and Teresa (Gazzano) Bellino.  She grew up in Worcester graduated from Worcester Public Schools and in 1946, in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, Rita married the “Love of her Life” Louis E. DeFalco.  Over the next 57 years, with Love and devotion Rita and Louis raised their family on Wilson Street in the Italian section of Worcester.  In her twilight years Rita lived Louella and her family.   Rita worked over 60 years of her life as an office assistant.   She began working for the U.S. Navy   in our area during World War II, later in the offices of Norton Company, Riley-Stoker and Babcock Companies, where she retired as assistant to the Vice President t at the age of 74. A beautiful, simple women of Italian descent, she always believed family came first.  Her husband, daughter and grandchildren were the most important things in her life.   She loved the simple pleasures of life; family dinners, cooking, baking, and watching old cowboys movies.   She was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, its Golden Years and at one time helped coordinate the Mt Carmel Charismatic group.   She was also a former member of the Pope John XXIII counsel Ladies Auxiliary.   Rita is survived by her devoted daughter, Louella DeFalco with whom she lived, two grandsons, Brian & Jeremy Bourque; three great grandchildren, Aubrey, Ciara and Ezra; Her best friend and pet dog Noah; Many other extended family members and friends.    Three brothers, Charles, John “Jack” and Samuel Bellino, and a sister, Anna Rivard all pre deceased her.  Friends and relatives are invited to a period of calling hours Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 before departing in procession to St John Church, 40 Temple Street where her Celebration of Life Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am.   Burial will follow in St John Cemetery.
