Donald T. McInerney, 89, of Millbury passed away with family at his side Sunday, July 16, 2017. Donald, one of five children of Henry and Mary (Stuart) McInerney, was born in Worcester on June 27 1928. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School Electrical Program. Joined the U.S. Navy during the wind down of World War II. Upon discharge Donald then accepted a position with the Massachusetts Electric Company where he worked for over 40 years as an Emergency Man before retiring. Donald’s wife of 58 years Dorothy M. (Finn) McInerney passed away in 2010. He is survived by his beloved family, His three daughters, Gayle M. Holland, of Hopkinton and her daughters, Keri and Bess, Lynda M. Pacheco, her husband David and their children Avery, Zackery, Benjamin and Ellery of Tiverton, RI, Nancy A. Buffone and her late husband John Buffone of Grafton and their children, Maxx and Grace , a son Kevin D. McInerney of Millbury, his wife Cathy and their children Angela and Melissa; six great grandchildren including Kylie, Maeve, Rowan and Victoria as well as his sister in law, Virginia McInerny; Don leaves his beloved rescue dog Jake, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Donald was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. An avid outdoorsman, he found enjoyment hunting, fishing, camping during the summers in Maine and all other outdoor activities. Donald and Dorothy also traveled extensively; In the U.S. they visited many of the national parks, to Europe many times, Alaska and Hawaii. He enjoyed his vegetable garden, and was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. His loving soul and caring soul will not be forgotten. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Thursday, July 20th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Friday, July 21st from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St where his celebration of life Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in St Phillips Cemetery, Grafton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
